City of Denver: Adaptive Recreation
Denver Parks & Recreation (DPR) offers therapeutic programs for people with disabilities at any age. Through numerous leisure activities, Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) and other DPR team members create opportunities to improve quality of life, foster independence and boost self-esteem. We strive to provide an atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome and believe all people should have the opportunity to participate and interact together.
City of Thornton: Adaptive & Inclusive Recreation
The Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) Program began in 2019 with its purpose to more intentionally welcome and include people with disabilities in Thornton Recreation programs and facilities.
This program is coordinated by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Becoming a CTRS requires a four year degree (or equivalent experience), passing a national certification exam, and 50 hours of continuing education every five years to stay certified. This ensures the AIR program maintains a high standard and follows current trends and issues in the field.
By practicing Therapeutic Recreation, we focus on promoting physical, emotional, social and cognitive well-being and development through recreation and fun!


Boulder County Guide to Accessible Trails
Boulder is an adventure town with outdoor recreation for everyone. Wide-open spaces, fresh air, wildlife, camaraderie and all the other memorable experiences that happen on trails in natural spaces can be enjoyed year-round by people with disabilities.
CO Park Specialty Pass
The Columbine Pass is for a Colorado resident with a total and permanent disability and who is on a fixed/limited income because of their disability. The pass can be moved between vehicles, allowing the Columbine Pass holder and others in the same vehicle to enter the park. The Columbine Pass holder must be present for the pass to be valid.
